Good morning, Wichita!

I hope everyone has been out and about to enjoy the snow. Sledding? Making a snowman? Hot cocoa? What’s your favorite part?

Let's get to it!

NEWS

Crown Uptown Update

The future of Crown Uptown has been in the air as the owner wanted to increase maximum occupancy from 850 to 2066, or else.

The “or else” could have just been a threat, or he may have actually razed the building, but I guess we might never know.

The Wichita City Council sent it over to the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission who just approved an amended version of the application to increase the number of people at the historic theatre. The amended version changes the goal number from 2066 to “the occupant load dictated and enforced by the Fire Marshal”.

Now it’ll go back to the City Council for a vote at a TBD date.

Who knows what will actually happen.

Downtown Commute

Downtown Wichita will be getting $1 million to design and implement new signal timings for streets that are converting from 1 to 2-way as the Wichita City Council just approved the budget.

I will say, some of the timings of the lights downtown seem like they are trying to make it as inefficient as possible and make you hit every. single. light.
