🌾 The Orpheum Returns

Together With

One day we will look at the forecast and it wont hit triple digits, but alas, today is not that day.

Let’s get to it!

The Orpheum Returns

Wichita Eagle

The $13 million restoration is finally over and the Orpheum is officially open for the first time since early 2025.

They have quite a kick off with John legend setting the ton at a sold out show this Sunday.

This is followed by a ticketed reopening celebration on 9/4 and other shows like Billy Idol, Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival, The Revivalists, Lady A and more!

Together with the Sedgwick County Zoo

There are a few can’t-miss events in Wichita, and one of the biggest is coming up September 12 at the Sedgwick County Zoo.

That’s right, Zoobilee is right around the corner! Spend the night sampling food from 60+ local spots, enjoying open bars, live music, one of Wichita’s largest silent auctions, and roaming the Zoo after dark.

Trust us, this is one Wichita party you don’t want to miss.

United Way

United Way of the Plains is investing $75,000 in 25 school-based programs across six south central Kansas school districts through its Dwane L. Wallace Youth Venture Grant. The microgrants support everything from tutoring and literacy to career exploration, leadership, STEM, arts and afterschool programs.

One of my favorite parts of running Wichita over a good part of the last decade is meeting the amazing people in Wichita.

Yes, that means you.

We are hosting a happy hour at one of the coolest venues with one of the best views in town, The Ninth Floor Club + Venue (formerly the Petroleum Club) on Tuesday, September 15th.

Feel free to stop by right after work for 5 minutes or a couple of hours. There will be drinks for purchase and complimentary light hors d’oeuvres (guess how many times that took me to get the spelling right).

CIVIL

Douglas → 3 Lane

Douglas between Washington and Grove is now under construction to convert to a 3 lane project in an effort to make the street safer for pedestrians.

How early?

That is the question.

How early can construction start in Wichita?

City & County Budget

E-Vehicle Regulation

I’ve seen more and more kids on all kinds of electric vehicles - bikes, scooters, one wheels, etc.

Now Goddard is working on regulating issues around these bad boys. I’m not sure who else in the area has regulations.

ICT Creator Gateway

Wichita has a TON of great creators. Many of them will be at the Advanced Learning Library tomorrow from 2 - 4:30pm for the Creator Summit 26 hosted by ICT Creator Gateway!

If you create content or have ever wanted to, this is for you. It’s free, but there are limited spots so reserve like right now.

Dolly Parton

RIP Dolly.

If you didn’t know, the Imagination Library has been in Kansas and Miss Dolly performed in Wichita back in 1968.

Lindsey Stirling

Lindsey Stirling is returning to the Wichita area in December, this time to Park City for her Snow Waltz Holiday Tour

Paint the Hydrants

Speaking of the ‘burbs, Kechi is asking residents to paint ~100 fire hydrants.
