🌾 Praying for Wichita

Together With

Good morning, Wichita -

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by Saturday's tragedy at Stryker. Praying for everyone injured, praying for what those kids had to see, praying for first responders, praying for everyone.

Let’s get to it,

-Landon

Together with Rocky Horror Wichita

Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show, Live at the B-29 DOC Hangar

For over 53 years, The Rocky Horror Show has been the cult classic that refuses to fade, a midnight ritual of fishnets, feather boas, and shouted call-backs passed down like a secret handshake. So much of that magic traces back to Tim Curry, whose Frank-N-Furter is forever iconic. This October, Wichita picks up the torch again.

Our fully-staged production takes over the historic B-29 DOC Hangar with an all-local cast performing live on stage, a live band, and a whole night built around it: tiered seating, curated bites, and a themed bar. Come loud, come dressed up, and do the Time Warp with us. Seven performances only, Oct 22-24 and 29-31, with a midnight show on Halloween.

Get your tickets here: rockyhorrorwichita.com

Plus: The Haunted Hangar After Party, Friday, Oct 30 at 10 PM. Keep the night going with drinks, costumes, and dancing in the hangar. Open to everyone, no show ticket required. Separately ticketed at rockyhorrorwichita.ludus.com.

Trump Rally Heads To Park City

Today's rally for Sen. Roger Marshall is at Heartland Credit Union Arena in Park City, not Wichita. Tickets are free with first-come seating, doors open this afternoon, and the Highway Patrol says to expect delays. It's the first Trump visit to the Wichita area since the 2016 rally at Century II.

Tragedy At Stryker

A 6-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man, both from McPherson, were killed and 11 others were hurt Saturday afternoon when a truck drove through a youth soccer game at Scheels Stryker Sports Complex. The driver stayed at the scene and is in custody, and police believe all of the injuries are non-life-threatening. The city canceled all Stryker events until further notice, and grief support is available through Dorothy's Lane/Tree of Life Care and Hope on the Streets Love in Action, or by calling or texting 988.

The Stryker cancellations include suspending the Kansas state girls flag football tournament with details to come today on rescheduling.

Decarsky Park Expands

Derby's Decarsky Park is reopenign this month after an $18M expansion that more than doubles it, with 4 more ball fields, batting cages, 2 playgrounds, an adaptive field, and a concession building. It was paid for by Derby's 1-cent sales tax, and the parks director says it means bigger tournaments.

Zoo Comings And Goings

Honey and Louise, the Sedgwick County Zoo's only two Grevy's zebras, are moving to another zoo later this month on a breeding recommendation from a species survival plan. The zoo also has a new resident, Finn the amur tiger.

Banana Ball Returns

Banana Ball is coming back to Equity Bank Park on 5/14-5/15 in 2027, with the Indianapolis Clowns taking on the Loco Beach Coconuts. The ticket lottery is open through 10/31, with winners buying about 2 months before. Last May's three sellouts drew about 36,000 fans, the three largest crowds in park history.

Glow-In-The-Dark Baseball

Cosmic Baseball isn’t letting Banana Ball have all the fun. Equity Bank Park is one of 44 stops on the 2027 Cosmic Baseball tour. There's no date yet, but you can enter the ticket lottery now.

Concert Under The Dome

Exploration Place's Dome is hosting Stardust 11/5-11/8, a live concert where John Allen loops and improvises the score in real time while 4K visuals fly you past asteroids and the rings of Saturn.

Ninja Course

A Reddit post showing an outdoor ninja obstacle course in Hutchinson has Wichitans asking why we don't have one. Commenters suggested Sedgwick County Park as a spot and pointed to the adult workout gear already at Fairmount and Sedgwick County parks, though plenty worried it would get vandalized.

Come On Down

The Price is Right Live hits the Orpheum on Tuesday, 2/23 at 7:30pm! One winner at every show could also land a trip for two to LA to see a taping of the TV show, and tickets went on sale Friday, 10/16, at 10am.
