Kansas Flavor Farmers Market in Valley Center
By Kat Massaglia
The Kansas Flavor Farmers Market in Valley Center is a Saturday spot worth adding to your list – especially if you’re hungover.
The new market is small and doesn’t have any produce vendors – yet. But the vendors who are there, especially the food vendors, are worth checking out.
If you consider yourself a Wichita-area foodie, The Hive’s hangover menu is worth coming down for a taste. The Hive is the new-ish local bar in Valley Center and hands down the best food in town.
At the market they do made-to-order omelets, a hangover recovery burger that includes a fried egg and their “Get Right” sauce and a Buzzkill Burrito. The prices are reasonable – burger and omelet are $8 and the burrito is $12.
The Kansas Flavor booth has free samples for an opportunity to try their marinades and seasoning for sale, and the BnJ’s Jerky Shak also features homemade free samples.
Charisse Bansemer, owner of Kansas Flavor and co-sponsor of the market, said there are outdoor spaces available and they hope to add some produce vendors. The indoor space is small and Bansemer said there is currently a waiting list for indoor vendors.
The non-food vendors were an eclectic mix of things like soaps, local art, woodworking, and crochet items.
The market is located at 117 S Park in Valley Center and runs from 8-1 every Saturday through Sept. 18.
