Vaccines
Sedgwick County is preparing for the next phase of people eligible for the vaccine. The next group is children between 12 and 15. This would mean ~45,000 kids in Sedgwick County are eligible.

Speed Trap Numbers
Last Thursday (April 29), the Wichita Police Department and Kansas Highway Patrol wrote 248 citations for traffic violations along Kellogg.
For one guy, he got stopped a second time going 73 in a 60 mph zone, just blocks away from the first time he got stopped going 73 in a 60 mph zone.

Brandon Johnson goes for second term
Wichita Vice Mayor Brandon Johnson is going for a second term as the district 1 city council member.
Some of his accomplishments include police reform, specifically a ban on chokeholds and kneeholds on handcuffed suspects.
I am a big fan of Brandon. I had the chance to talk with him last year and I believe he is a very reasonable man and a great representation of who we need working for our city.
WEATHER
Freezing temps cause major damage
The February winter storm caused a lot of damage.
The damage to the various USD259 buildings totaled $721,000 (this includes burst pipes and the water damage that resulted).

Gallery Alley
Wichita has a ton of beautiful art all over our city.
Gallery Alley is a really cool area and it just got a renovation including a new ground mural and a new interactive art piece.
KEEPER OF THE PLAINS
Let there be light!
The Ring of Fire around The Keeper of the Plains has been cold for too long.
This past Saturday, May 1st at 9PM was the first time it was lit since the pandemic started. Keep an eye out for the new schedule!
