Good morning Wichita!
You may be confused. This used to be a Monday only email and today is not Monday (it’s Friday, TGIF!!)
In the recent Monday edition of the Update, we asked how often you’d like to receive these emails. 74% of people said more than once a week, with 44% of people saying twice a week and 30% of people saying thrice per week. We will start with 2X per week and see what everyone thinks! (I’m sorry to the 26% of people who wanted it to stay at once a week, I hope you can forgive us..)
If you don’t already subscribe to our YouTube channel, go check it out and subscribe! We have a ton of great content including a recent interview with 2020 American Idol runner-up, Arthur Gunn. We are closing in on 1000 subscribers and you can help us get there!

CORONAVIRUS
Phase 3 & 4 Begin
March 21st (this Sunday) will transition Kansas into a combined Phase 3 & 4 of the vaccination schedule. Phase 3 and 4 can be difficult to distinguish, which led to them being combined and opened simultaneously.
- Phase 3 covers those aged 16-64 with serious medical conditions (cancer, Down syndrome, certain heart conditions, type 2 diabetes) and pregnant women as well as a slew of non-healthcare workers and critical infrastructure that were not covered in Phase 1 or 2.
- Phase 4 covers those aged 16-64 with other medical conditions that increased the risk of severe illness (asthma, cystic fibrosis, type 1 diabetes, liver disease, and neurological diseases).
The final phase (Phase 5) has a goal of starting by May 1st.
Vaccinations
With more people able to receive the vaccines, Sedgwick County opened up another location this past Monday. The Sedgwick County Extension Office in the 7000 block of West 21st Street (21st & Ridge). The main site is still the former Central Library downtown (223 South Main).
Masks to continue in USD259
The Sedgwick County mask mandate has been dropped for public and private schools as the Sedgwick County commissioners overruled the health officer.
This decision leaves the final call to individual school boards. USD259 then announced they will continue wearing masks.
(Some) Restrictions Lifted
The newest order that goes into effect March 21st will remove all gathering and capacity restrictions. The order will still require masks and 6 feet of social distancing.
POWERED BY GUTTER KING WICHITA
April showers bring may flowers.
April showers can also bring more rain than your gutters are ready for. After a fall and winter of leaves and other junk filling up your gutters, there isn’t a better time than right now to get your gutters cleaned or repaired.
I have Mike and Gutter King Wichita coming out this month to repair my gutter before the real heavy rain comes in this year!
Don’t leave it up to chance, call Gutter King Wichita today.
PEOPLE
#FREEALBERTWILSON
Albert Wilson will get a new trial. Almost 5 years after receiving a very poor trial around rape allegations with lack of evidence, improper legal counsel, and a biased jury, Albert Wilson will finally receive a new trial.
CIVIC
City Council Seat Filled
When James Clendenin stepped down from his seat on the Wichita City Council, it left an open spot for District 3. Former radio and TV news reporter Jared Cerullo has been elected to fill this seat.

Concerts To Return
There have been a few, smaller concerts around town over the last year, but not many. With the new Sedgwick County Health order going into effect Sunday, venues are starting to gear up. The event venue Wave just announced their first concert since they closed last March. The tickets went on sale yesterday and the concert will be June 6.

The Shockers lost in the play-in game of the NCAA tournament to old MVC foe Drake by one point. We had a shot at the end of the game, but couldn’t seal the deal.
All in all, after a mass exodus of players last year and the coaching situation, I’d say this was a good season. This was a disappointing way to go out though.
