Good morning to everyone except for Tom Brady.
Last night didn’t go as planned for all of us Chiefs fans, but at least we still have Patrick Mahomes for the foreseeable future. For a lot of people, the real game took place between snaps. What was your favorite commercial?
If you didn’t notice, it is significantly colder this week, so bundle up!

COVID Vaccine Update
Kansas is currently in Phase 2 of the Vaccination deployment which focuses on those aged 65+. Kansas also recently launched a tool to help you find where you can get vaccinated.
There are 10 Dillon’s locations in the Wichita area that will offer vaccinations starting February 11th.
“We need more nice stuff down South”
Most of the arguments I hear about the “best area of town” end up east side vs west side (as an east sider, I agree, east is far superior to west). BUT it is South Wichita that will be getting a new “four-season” facility near O.J. Watson Park. It will be able to hold parties of ~100-120 for various events including weddings and family parties. As Mayor Whipple said “We need more nice stuff down south.”
Punxsutawney Phil
Phil officially called for six more weeks of winter last Tuesday when he emerged from his slumber to see his shadow. Has anyone actually stopped to consider how strange this is? He has predicted longer winters more than 100 times since the late 1800s. At the very least, he was right this week for Wichita.
City County District 3 Candidates
The seat left open by Council Member James Clendenin resigning will be filled by on March 9. The list of 9 current candidates will be interviewed and narrowed down to 5 to be considered on March 2. The current list includes Nicholas Blasi, Jason Carmichael, Jared Cerullo, Mary Dean, Michael Hoheisel, Cindy Miles, Virgil H. Miller Jr., Joseph Shepard, and George Theoharis.
Delano District Deal
Pizza, Donuts, beer. Every Thursday, four businesses on the 1700 block of East Douglas team up to offer discounts. Hopping Gnome Brewing, Lava & Tonic, The Donut Whole, and Piatto all offer food and drink deals!
MLK Mural
Right off I-135 and Central, a mural celebrating Wichita and Martin Luther King Jr is almost complete. Mary Nguyen returned home from KC to work on the mural.
Century 2
On Tuesday, February 9th, the Wichita city council will vote to authorize the release of a request for proposal to potential privatize the operation of Century II. Wichita would continue to own the building, but a private company could run the operations.

Food
Our recommendation this week is George’s French Bistro. George’s is not the cheapest place to eat in town, but that is for good reason. They have argueably the best food in town and it is one of our favorite places for special occasions.
