Day 4 of the 2024 Wichita Jazz Festival welcomes tenor saxophone player Melissa Aldana playing with the Wichita State University Jazz Arts 1 and the Mid-Kansas Jazz Band!
Melissa Aldana is a GRAMMY-nominated saxophonist and composer tenor player from Santiago, Chile. She is based in Brooklyn, NY and has garnered international recognition for her visionary works as a band leader, as well as her deeply meditative interpretation of language and vocabulary. Melissa is also an in-demand clinician and educator and has recently been appointed to the faculty of the New England Conservatory’s Jazz Studies Department.
Melissa will be joining the Wichita State University Jazz Arts 1 and the Mid-Kansas Jazz Band. Wichita Jazz Festival is proud of our partnership with Wichita State University’s Jazz Arts giving jazz students the opportunity to connect with some of the finest talents in the jazz world.
