The Wichita Grand Opera proudly presents Leonard Bernstein’s brilliant comic operetta, Candide. Acclaimed actor Kelsey Grammer, of Cheers and Frasier fame, stars in the semi-staged production and brings his signature wit and charisma to this glittering satire.

The production also features Metropolitan Opera singer Emily Pulley, both directing and performing on stage. Rising stars Jonathan Johnson and Amy Owens perform the lead roles of Candide and Cunegonde. Inspired by Voltaire’s novella, the story follows the adventures of the innocent Candide on his quest for meaning and happiness in a world full of absurdity and chaos. Bernstein’s dazzling score incorporates a whirlwind of musical styles including lush romanticism, jazz, waltzes, a sizzling tango, and much more.
