Have you talked with your parents about what they want to do if they can’t live independently? The National Hospice Foundation has found that 75 percent of Americans don’t make their end-of-life decisions known to their families. It’s essential to plan for aging before there’s a crisis.
In this workshop, you’ll better understand your parents’ perspective, learn how to initiate these conversations, receive examples of questions to approach various topics to create a plan, and tips to avoid caregiver burnout.
Lorrie Beck, an educator with the Alzheimer’s Association will be present to talk about Alzheimer’s signs to watch for. She is a happily retired federal employee. She retired in December 2014 to care for her mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease, and went into memory care facility in April 2019 and died in 2022. Since then she expanded her volunteer work at the Habitat for Humanity and the Great Plains Nature Center to include the Kansas Food Bank, Wichita theaters and a Community Educator with the Central & Western Kansas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association (Wichita).
