CORONAVIRUS
Wichita State drops COVID Measures
Following Thursday’s announcement where Kansas Republicans overrode Governor Kelly’s mask mandate, WSU also dropped their COVID restrictions.
This includes:
- mask mandate
- social distancing
- limits on mass gatherings
The university does however still encourage you to follow these practices, just does not require them.

CIVIC
Amtrak Train to Return?
President Biden is making a push with his infrastructure plan. Part of this plan could connect Wichita to OKC as well as Texas via Amtrak train. This could be a big potential win for Wichita. Also who doesn’t want to go on a train ride to Texas for the weekend?
SPORTS
Wichita Force
Wichita’s indoor football team, the Wichita Force will be moving homes this year. They have relocated to the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane as of April 1.
CULTURE
Gone with the Wind
Hattie McDaniel is a cultural icon. She is the first African American to win the Academy Award for her role in the 1939 film, “Gone with the Wind”. McDaniel was born in Wichita in the 1890’s.
Wichita will honor her with a new historical trail marker at 925 North Wichita Street.
Downtown Library
A huge debate pre-covid surrounded the fate of Century II. Part of that debate included what happens to the old downtown library. Now that we are in the full vaccination swing and the building is finding new life in being useful, many people think it would be a shame to tear down.
