We are back to our regularly scheduled Monday program. If you missed it, we are sending these emails out twice a week now (by popular demand) to cut down the length a bit and stay a little more up to date.

CORONAVIRUS
Phase 3 & 4 Begin
In case you missed the Friday issue, Kansas transitioned into a combined Phase 3 & 4 of the vaccination schedule. This allows many more people the opportunity to get the vaccine.
The final phase 5 will begin May 1st.

CRIME
Counterfeit Purses
If you were waiting on your fake Louis Vuitton, Gucci, or Channel Purses, you’re out of luck.
445 counterfeit designer purses and other items were seized at the Chicago airport en route to Wichita. The total actual retail price of these items (if they were real) would have topped $635k.
WICHITA STATE
In-Person Commencement
Wichita State will give those students who did not get a chance to celebrate their graduation the chance to do so. All fall 2020, spring 2021 and summer 2021 graduates will be celebrated. This will take place May 14 and May 15.
BUSINESS
Coffee Changes
Numerous changes on the coffee scene are happening:
- Sunflower Espresso, previously just a coffee truck, have opened a shop at the Fireworx Wichita coworking space at 500 S Topeka.
- Cafe LA is a Vietnamese coffee shop located at 1916 E. Pawnee.
- Scooter’s Coffee at 801 E Douglas has closed.
- Leslie Coffee Co will be open until 4:30PM daily.
- Reverie Coffee Roasters is offering limited dine-in seating.
Wichita Area Events
COVID took a lot of fun out of every day life. Plenty of fun is getting started back up though!
Looking forward to the next couple months.
April:
- Fair Food & Tunes – this event is set to make up a some of the events missed at the Kansas State Fair (the normal state fair will still happen in September) on April 10th.
- Wichita Women’s Fair – this event is at the Expo Hall from April 23-25.
- Midwest Winefest (a fundraiser for Guadalupe Clinic) is returning April 29-30.
May:
- Wind Surge are set to open May 11th!
- Orpheum will reopen for the first time since last year.
737 Max
Spirit is starting to ramp back up for the production of the Boeing Co 737 Max.
Spirit cut nearly 5000 jobs last year due to COVID. The goal is to build 31 aircrafts per month by 2022.
