CORONAVIRUS
Main COVID-19 Vaccine site moves to Downtown Library
- Main Vaccine Site – The former primary location for Sedgwick County and the City of Wichita was the INTRUST Bank Arena. Starting TODAY, it will be the former Wichita Public Library (223 South Main).
- Drive Thru – The drive-thru location remains at the Wichita Transit Operations Center (777 East Waterman). This location is primarily for those who have a hard time navigating to the primary location.
COVID-19 Numbers continue to drop
The COVID-19 positive test % continues to drop. We have been on a steady drop since January 11. We currently sit ~5% of tests coming back as positive. The other encouraging number is the number of ICU beds in use. For the first time since October, we have dropped below the 208 available ICU beds in use down to 190 beds in use.

EARTHQUAKE
4.2 Earthquake felt in Wichita
A 4.2 rated earthquake centered near Manchester, OK was felt all over Wichita on Friday just before 8AM. Luckily this one wasn’t actually centered in Wichita.

Official Snow Measurement
Wichita was expecting anywhere from 1 – 10 inches of snow depending on the source. Downtown Wichita recorded 4 inches as of last Monday morning. I’m sure we received a little more throughout the week, but that was a good chunk of the snow we received.
Energy Conservation
Several City of Wichita buildings shut down to conserve energy last week including the Mid-American All-Indian Center, Cowtown, Public Libraries and more.
Higher Utility Bills Inbound
United Way 211 is offering help for those worried about the potential high energy bills after the winter storm. Many people will be switching to the average payment plan to help level out potential spikes in the future.
Firefighters Take Advantage of Opportunity
It’s not often we get weather as cold as last week, but the Wichita Fire Department headed out to OJ Watson Park to practice saving people who have fallen in the ice.
